Rwanda
Crop of Gold COCAF Amizero
Caramel, citrus , lime zest, dark chocolate, coco, almonds.
A wonderful cup that highlights the huge potential of Rwandan coffee. The coffee growers tend to use bourbon variety which can yield some stunning results when combined with the land and growing conditions in Rwanda. There have been some brilliant projects running in conjunction with the coffee growing families in Rwanda, working with the people to recover the best of their potential after the genocide. The coffee that has been produced as a result has made Rwanda the darlings of speciality coffee.

COCAF Amizero is a small lot. This red bourbon is from the village of Rushenyi in the District of Gatsibo. The village produces just 23 bags in an area of 350 Hectares. Grown at an altitude of 1500m

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Organic
Grapefruit, light, apricot, peach, acidity, fruit bowl.
Historically its harder in Africa to have the same relationships with Farmers as Central and South America because most of the coffee is pooled together and sold through government organized auctions. However the development of the speciality market is giving some co-ops the opportunity to stand out and get more for their coffee as it commands a higher price. Yirgacheffe is a town in the Sidamo region which has produced some of the worlds most spectacular coffees. They are judged locally on the cupping table and only the highest scoring coffees go to the speciality market. This is brilliant example with a lovely sweet acidity combined with a great mouth feel.
