It is very important to eat good food, and the aim of 'dig' is to supply people with good, wholesome food at a price which is affordable.
'Dig' is a great way of bringing good, healthy raw ingredients back into your life. Of course there will also be a helping of indulgence because life would be boring without it.
How can we then make 'dig' a worthwhile, ethical venture? The answer is that buying local food means that the food will be fresher and local farmers will be better paid for their produce thus creating a more sustainable, local economy.
Here's what we dig:
~ Supporting farmers who choose to grow organically (without using pesticides)
~ People who choose to eat organic, locally produced food
~ Farmers getting a fair price for their produce
~ Independent traders
~ Making sure you get the best produce around
~ Staying away from mass-produced and heavily processed foods
~ Supporting the local economy
~ Using as little packaging as possible
~ Driving as few miles as we can considering we're a home delivery service
~ Helping to create a sustainable, local economy
~ Educating whenever possible about the benefits of eating good food
~ Food! Glorious FOOD!

OUR BUYING POLICY:
We buy seasonally, which means that we prioritise North West &
UK grown produce over the same products grown in Europe or further a field-quite literally!
For example, when kiwis are in season in Europe we buy them,
but we don't buy them at the time of the year when they are only available from New Zealand.
To allow us to provide interesting variety for our customers,
it is necessary to buy seasonally from Europe too.
We never buy air-freighted goods.
Our fairly traded bananas are brought from Ecuador by ship.
(Bananas are unavailable from Europe!)
